Generally, most people aspire to live a long, healthy and happy life accompanied with a good balance of physical, mental, and social well-being. A healthy lifestyle is absolutely related to disease prevention as disease does not develop through causes only within the body. Therefore, treatment of the unpleasant symptoms and other body signs of disease, especially chronic diseases, may not be completely cured without changing and maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Causes of disease are often the result of poor dietary choices, an unhealthy lifestyle, and habits. Poor dietary choices include imbalanced nutrients, poor food combinations, an excess intake of food (overeating), particularly too much fat, refined and processed foods, the consumption of sugary drinks, the choice of foods that are very sweet or salty, drinking alcohol excessively, eating too fast, and irregular mealtimes. Poor lifestyle habits include smoking, physical inactivity, irregular sleeping patterns, poor posture, excessive exposure to electronic devices such as TV, online games and chat, and video streaming, particularly before sleep, and irregular daily life. A person's lack of a sense of well-being also plays a role in the onset of disease, such as having a negative mind (outlook) on life. If one changes their poor dietary, unhealthy lifestyle, and habits to a healthier lifestyle consisting of balanced regular meals, regular exercise, fresh air, positive thinking and a generous mind, along with an appreciation of one's surroundings, one will see great positive changes and results. All together, these important lifestyle factors work continuously for a healthy, balanced life. Although change can be difficult, especially where an unhealthy lifestyle has developed since one was young, maintaining a positive attitude and being patience can lead adopting a healthy life.
Stress deeply affects one's normal healthy life. It is one of the major causal factors for many health problems in the body. These health problems are associated with an imbalanced autonomic nervous system. There are many factors involved in regulating body function, including blood circulation, hormones, the immune system, enzymes, and internal organs and tissues. Additionally, the autonomic nervous system is one of the major factors in this regulation. The autonomic nervous system is divided into two branches: the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. In a healthy body, there is a balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Stress stimulates the hypothalamus to initiate stress responses, including the acceleration of sympathetic nerves and increased adrenaline (epinephrine and norepinephrine from the adrenal medulla) production. These stress responses result in a constriction of the blood vessels of most viscera and skin, a dilation of blood vessels of the heart, lungs, brain, and skeletal muscles, a contraction of the spleen, a decrease in digestive activities, an increase in heart rate and blood pressure and water retention, and an imbalance in body temperature. Simultaneously, the parasympathetic nerve function declines which can result in improper functioning of the endocrine and enzymes. The overall imbalance of these two nervous systems can lead to many diseases that may affect various systems of the body, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, nervous, musculoskeletal, and reproductive systems. Stress can also impact one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Stress appears to be an integral part of modern lifestyles. Therefore, it is very important for one to know how to manage stress in ways that do not negatively affect one's healthy life.
Positive thinking and an objective view of life's events help reduce stress and are important for managing unpleasant body conditions. Like a magical treatment, positive thinking can support the body's natural healing processes and significantly lessen health problems. Because the human body can easily and quickly respond to changes in the body's conditions, either in healthy or unhealthy ways, depending on how one thinks. For example, even though a person has a severe disease and, along with treatment, tries to change the condition of this situation by positive thinking, the results are better and faster when compared to one with the same condition who has a negative mind. In other words, negative thinking seems to cause the body to respond very slowly and may result in a worsening condition, even for minor afflictions, and may also block one's wisdom to deal with such conditions. Positive thinking can not only help cure a healthy body but also help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging due to various factors such as work conditions, environmental changes, personal issues, and social relationships. For instance, when one faces a difficult situation or an unhappy condition, it is easy to blame external factors or altogether abandon the previous healthy lifestyle rather than dealing with these changing situations in the moment. By encouraging oneself to maintain positive thinking, one is better able to pursue one's lifestyle goals, which can help one to feel significantly better about simple or even difficult events. Therefore, positive thinking is also one of the essential ways to alleviate problems within the body and improve one's overall life. The goal is that through support and education, one will make balanced decisions with wisdom for improving and maintaining a healthy life.
